Ozzie spent the next eight days around the bird-rich estuaries of the Sous and the famous Oued Massa, a large coastal lagoon. Here the fishing was good. Thousands of migrating and wintering birds gathered here, terns, gulls, spoonbills and flamingos and water birds of all types. Ozzie ran into several other Ospreys, but there was plenty of fish for all. He slowly recuperated and built up his strength after the long flight.
The estuaries of the Sous and Massa are cut off from the sea by sandbanks for most of the year and shallow lagoons and channels are formed. They are some of the most important bird sites in Morocco and home to endangered species such as the Northern Bald Ibis, the Marbled Duck and the Audouin's Gull.
