At dawn the next day he dropped down to drink from an irrigation stream beneath the palms. He was midway through bathing when the first villager emerged and disturbed him. Unseen, he flew up into the palms, where he continued to preen. At around 7am the people were getting active and Ozzie decided it was time to go. As he launched off he noticed another Osprey perched in a palm on the other side of the village. He had come in after dark, and had used this oasis before. He too took flight and circled up with Ozzie. Being the more experienced bird he led off northwards with Ozzie following.
