Clumsily he tried to adjust his speed and angle of descent, casting a wavering shadow over the pool. The trout panicked and shot around the pool in a frenzy, looking for cover. Most found it, some bumped into others already in hiding, scaring them back out into the open. Ozzie hit the water with an almighty splash, plunging his whole body under, feet grasping wildly.
Ospreys usually fly above the water looking for fish swimming near the surface. When they see a fish they dive, feet first, into the water, sometimes from a considerable height. Occasionally they submerge completely. They struggle from the water with the fish gripped in their talons, held head forward.
